Do
you want to know a little bit more about Jane, the person? Here are some of
her favorite Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's):
Q:
What do you do when you're not "on the job,"speaking and working?
Do you take out time for "normal" things, too?
A: I really love being outdoors, whether it's puttering around in my rock
garden & woods at my home or taking a brisk hike in the north Georgia
mountains. I need trees, birds, flowers and fresh air in my life everyday.
I also need to keep moving! And our new puppy, Milo, makes sure I do.)
Q:
How did you get started in the speaking business?
A: Well, I've always been pretty gregarious, and whenever there was a chance
to speak up, I did. Early in my career, I did product and sales training as
a sales representative for Ralph Lauren and I learned how to put together
seminars then. Many years later, I joined Toastmasters
and that gave me the confidence and skills I needed to start speaking professionally.
That was in 1990, and I haven't stopped talking yet- just ask my husband.
Q:
So, tell us about your husband?
A: Greg's my best friend, business partner, and favorite entertainer. He's
also very magical, funny, and romantic. I could say a lot more, but some of
it's pretty private. (Check him out at www.davidsonmagic.com)
Q:
So, you love plants and flowers. What are your favorites?
A: Well, as far as shrubs go, I have two favorites and both are evergreen.
One is called Fortune's Osmanthus (o. fortunei.) It looks like a holly bush,
and it has apricot-scented flowers in the fall. My other favorite plant is
Gardenia Radicans which is a low-growing dark green plant that sometimes blooms
both in the spring and the fall. It reminds me of my wedding flowers and Hawaii.
Q:
And how did you learn so much about plants?
A: My number one
"great garden" teacher is my Mom, followed by The Southern Living
Garden Book, published by Oxmoor House. (www.oxmoorhouse.com)
It has a lot of inspiring pictures and great information. Mom doesn't have
a web site, yet.
Q:
What's your favorite vacation spot?
A: That would have
to be The Highland Haven Creekside Inn Bed and Breakfast in Evergreen, Colorado.
It's located alongside this wonderful mountain creek, and every cabin is wonderfully
different and cozy. Breakfasts are extraordinary, and the mountain environment
is incredibly relaxing. The fact that my sister Gail and her husband Tom own
the resort has no bearing on my opinion whatsoever. www.highlandhaven.com
Q:
How do keep up all that energy?
A: Well, I feel like I should mention exercise. An easy exercise
would be splashing around in the puddles in my rubber boots (if it rains.)
My moderate exercise choice is rollerblading (on level surfaces) while
listening to Van Morrison. The really hard exercise I do is Kathy Smith's
Kickboxing Workout. It takes me the rest of the day to recover from that.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration?
A: From my Christian family at Roswell United Methodist. They include me on
mission trips, ask me to clown for the Ice Cream Social, and let me sing as
loudly as I want to on Sunday morning.
Q: Why do you like the color purple so much?
A: Why, doesn't everybody? (Just kidding. I just do!)
Q:
What do you like most about your work?
A: Helping my audience to laugh and see new possibilities
right along
with me!
